YEREVAN. – Sedrak and Levon Kocharyan, the sons of Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan, were questioned at the Special Investigation Service (SIS) as witnesses. Levon Kocharyan said this in a conversation with journalists today.

He said they had been summoned to the SIS for an interview in the criminal case on Arman Tavadyan, the owner of 5th Channel television. "My brother and I did not testify because we had repeatedly stated our attitude towards that structure [the SIS]," Levon Kocharyan said. "They have violated presumption of innocence—starting from its head."

Levon Kocharyan noted that the interview had lasted about 20 minutes.

Armen Tavadyan, the owner of 5th Channel television of Armenia, has been arrested along the lines of the criminal case on Varuzhan Mkrtchyan, a supporter of Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan, who is believed to have proposed a victim of the March 1, 2008 case to take back testimony. Tavadyan was arrested on suspicion under the Criminal Code article on false testimony, and bribery or coercion to give a false conclusion or incorrect translation.
