Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is in Geneva to attend the 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, today met with Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Mnatsakanyan noted that Armenia highly appreciates the role of the High Commissioner in the implementation of programs aimed at meeting the needs of refugees and internally displaced persons.

The Foreign Minister also reaffirmed Armenia's full support and commitment to the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees. Both sides underlined the importance of this new format.

The FM noted that due to its historical presence and involvement in the Middle East, Armenia is constantly following the processes taking place in that region. He reaffirmed Armenia's willingness to continue its humanitarian mission in Syria to assist its friendly people in addressing the challenges and concerns they face.

Also, Minister Mnatsakanyan presented to his interlocutor Armenia's steps being taken to respond to the needs of Syrian Armenians and to improve their situation in Armenia.
