YEREVAN. – The consensus of all participating countries is needed for Azerbaijan’s membership in the CSTO. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin said this at a roundtable discussion in Yerevan, and entitled "The Role of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Ensuring Security in the Caucasus Region."

Belarusian Ambassador Igor Nazaruk, in his turn, noted that the trend in this direction can be viewed as a positive step, taking into account the common historical past within the framework of the ex-USSR.

Igor Panarin, a representative of the CSTO Secretariat, explained that this is linked to a large number of processes, and that is why such changes cannot be made quickly.

And the director of the CSTO Institute in Armenia, Nver Torosyan, in his turn, called not to manipulate the matter.
