A treasure with sapphires, rubies, emeralds and even a diamond was accidentally discovered during the reconstruction of the former priest’s house from Saint-Tropez, Le Figaro reported.

There were about sixty stones in the treasure. Their origin has not been clarified yet.

The worker found them while dismantling the fireplace. He came across a cache with several cigarette cases, and each of them contained dozens of precious stones.

The value of the treasure will be divided between the worker and the new owner of the building. Priests lived there since 1928. The house was sold to a Belgian developer for EUR 8 million in 2017. The new owner intends to convert the premises and turn it into a boutique.
