YEREVAN. – Taking into account the epidemic situation in the region, we decided to extend and tighten the restrictions on communication across the Armenian-Iranian border. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this today during a session of the coronavirus prevention task force.

"We will begin the process of reinstating the temporary visa regime with Iran, and the visa regime will be reinstated within 5 days," the prime minister said. "Of course, we are in constant communication with our colleagues of Iran, expressing our support to the friendly people and government of Iran, and we will assist the friendly and neighboring people and government of Iran in whatever way we can."

He called on Armenian citizens to limit their travels to Italy and Turkey, too, as much as possible.

"Of course, the [Armenian] government, the Ministry of Health is taking all available measures," Nikol Pashinyan stressed. “But the most important conclusion of both specialists and our discussion today is that the most reliable way to prevent the spread of coronavirus is every person’s self-responsibility."
