YEREVAN. – The change in the border regime with Iran is conditioned by how the dynamics will be of the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the neighboring country and by how the fight against the virus will be conducted there. Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, told this to reporters.

According to him, if there will be positive changes, the Armenian authorities will make a corresponding decision. "The situation is changing on a daily basis," Grigoryan assured. "As for Armenia, a very high level of security is ensured here."

He added that time is needed to assess the economic impact due Armenia’s restrictions imposed on Iran. "Armenia has close economic ties also with China, where the virus began spreading, but this situation has a global impact," the Armenian official concluded. "I think we need to respond to this by fighting against the virus."

To avoid the spread of coronavirus in Armenia, the Armenian government has imposed restrictions on land and air communication with Iran.
