YEREVAN. - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement on new impetus to the March 1 case gives rise to numerous questions, a member of the Heritage parliamentary group Armen Martirosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The first question is why the Armenian authorities did not try to intensify the investigation earlier. The second question is whether Serzh Sargsyan’s statement is a mere declaration or it has a solid ground,” Martirosyan said.

The reasons for President Sargsyan’s statement are the PACE monitoring group’s report, which says that the unsolved March 1 crimes poison the atmosphere in the country, and the relevant demand by the opposition Armenian National Congress.

At a Wednesday conference on judicial reforms, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stressed the need for impetus to the investigation into the March 1 2008 events in Yerevan. He stated that solution of the crimes is his personal priority.
