On March 8, an investigator of the Shirak Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia filed a petition with the Court of General Jurisdiction of Shirak Province in Gyumri for the court to render a decision to select two-month arrest as a pre-trial measure for resident of Gyumri, 28-year-old Davit Poghosyan, according to SHAMSHYAN.com.

Poghosyan is suspected of brutally beating 43-year-old resident of Gyumri Mariam Kh. in Gyumri on March 5. As a result of the beating, the victim lost consciousness and died. Poghosyan is also suspected of beating Mariam Kh.’s young girl.

According to G. Shamshyan, the court upheld the investigator’s petition, and Poghosyan, who has been previously convicted, was arrested and transferred to a penitentiary institution.
