Minister of Defense of Armenia Davit Tonoyan expressed his concern to Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk about Azerbaijan’s attempts to intensify operations in certain sectors of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border over the past couple of days.

The defense minister received Kasprzyk this evening, presented the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border and the line of contact of the forces of Artsakh and Azerbaijan, the frequency and nature of the ceasefire violations.

Davit Tonoyan stated that the military-political developments in the region, the situation of the world economy and the pandemic, the climatic conditions and several other factors are increasing the possibility of destabilization of the situation and, in this sense, the defense minister attached importance to speedy implementation of measures to weaken the tension in terms of ruling out more sabotages.

Ambassador Kasprzyk expressed willingness to make maximal efforts in his intermediary mission to weaken the tension.

The interlocutors also discussed humanitarian issues related to citizens in captivity and deprived of liberty.
