Saudi Arabia has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Mecca and Medina, expanding measures to combat the spread of coronavirus, Reuters reported referring to the interior ministry. 

There are some exceptions, including for key employees and for residents to buy food and access medical care, the statement said.

According to the latest data, there are over 1,700 COVID-19 cases in the kingdom. The death toll has reached 16.
