Recommendations for conducting religious events in the context of a COVID-19 pandemic were prepared by the authorities of the US state of California.

As CNN reported on Monday, the California Department of Public Health has issued guidelines for reopening places of worship during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to it, the maximum number of ceremony participants should not exceed 100, and it is advisable to conduct them outdoors.

"Even with adherence to physical distancing, convening in a congregational setting of multiple different households to practice a personal faith carries a relatively higher risk for widespread transmission of COVID-19," the release said.

According to Johns Hopkins University, over 1.65 million COVID-19 cases were recorded in the US. The death toll has reached 98 thousand.
