YEREVAN. – Elections of local self-government bodies in Armenia will be held either by majoritarian or proportional representation system. The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, stated this at Tuesday’s sitting of the National Assembly during the discussion of the package of draft laws on making amendments and additions to the Electoral Code.

Thus, according to the majoritarian system for the election of the community head, in case of elections, a majoritarian constituency will be formed in his territory. "And in the case of the proportional electoral system, the elections to the council of elders will be held by the proportional system. During the elections, single constituencies will be created for each community," Papikyan explained.
