This is a global catastrophe and is beyond politics. This is what Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan declared in parliament today, calling on the opposition in parliament and the extra-parliamentary opposition to join forces and combat the coronavirus along with the government.

“We all understand and often use the term ‘war’. It’s clear that we all share the same opinions on Artsakh, war and the soldiers defending the border. In this case, I also believe we need to stand united as one and, if necessary, hold discussions because this is a common catastrophe, and I offer and urge to think about this and consider the uniform actions that we need to take to get out of this war-like situation. We all need to agree that all issues and problems linked to COVID-19 are rules that aren’t the rules of the game and that we can’t and must not let this be used for political purposes or any other purpose. Let’s find an option, combine efforts to bring citizens of Armenia and all of us out of this situation and avoid suffering losses,” Simonyan said.
