The Spanish government has declared 10-day official mourning since May 27 to commemorate nearly 30,000 people who died from the COVID-19 pandemic, Reuters reported referring to the government spokeswoman Maria Jesus Montero.

At all government offices and warships, state flags will be lowered. The mourning will end with an official ceremony led by the leader of the country in memory of 26,834 dead.

Spain reported 235,400 COVID-19 cases.
