Ex-advisor to the President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Tigran Abrahamyan posted the following on his Facebook page:

“The fact that a car belonging to the Armed Forces of Armenia was struck in the direction of Nakhchivan on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border must be viewed in the context of the attempt of sabotage made by a group of saboteurs on the Karabakhi-Azerbaijani line of contact.

Let us note that, earlier, military exercises were being conducted in the sectors near the borders of Artsakh and Armenia.

On the one hand, the striking and military exercises can be viewed as ‘test’ manifestations of military exercises. On the other hand, they can also be viewed as actions aimed at escalating the situation in a particular sector.

In any case, striking a military car isn’t an ‘ordinary’ incident. It’s a good thing Armenian servicemen weren’t affected during the incident, but it would be difficult to view these two incidents as actions targeted at sharp escalation of the situation.

The situation may escalate gradually, but in this phase, the incidents will be more at the local level.”
