YEREVAN. – The Administrative Court of Armenia has granted the motion—in connection with the current COVID-19 pandemic—of the attorneys of second President Robert Kocharyan, and therefore he will not return to penitentiary from the hospital. Robert Kocharyan's lawyer Aram Orbelyan stated this in a conversation with Armenian News-NEWS.am Friday.

"We petitioned to the court when Robert Kocharyan was being transferred from Erebouni Medical Center [back] to the penitentiary. At this moment, the Administrative Court has accepted our demand. Since the second president is now at Izmirlian Medical Center, we have asked the court to apply the ensuring of the petition, not to transfer [him] from the medical center [back] to the penitentiary until the end of the pandemic. The court granted [the motion] and accepted the case," Orbelyan said.

He added that this court hearing was held behind closed doors, as it was a process containing medical information, and the penitentiary where Robert Kocharyan is kept was notified of the court's decision.
