US President Donald Trump took to his Twitter to thank the Secret Service for guarding the White House amid the ongoing protests.

"They were not only totally professional, but very cool. I was inside, watched every move, and couldn’t have felt more safe. They let the “protesters” scream & rant as much as they wanted, but whenever someone....," Trump said.

As reported earlier, a group of protesters gathered in front of the White House at night over the killing of an unarmed African-American man George Floyd at the hands of officers in Minneapolis has clashed with the Secret Service.

For over five hours at night, protestors confronted Secret Service officers at barriers near White House. At times, the crowd removed the metal barriers and began pushing up against the Secret Service officers. The protestors pushed hard enough that some officers have sustained minor injuries.
