Preliminary investigation into the case of the events of October 27, 1999 is being conducted at full scale. This is what Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan said during a parliamentary session today.

“The Prosecutor General’s Office has formed a group of investigators of several bodies and set up a prosecutorial oversight group, and I have given an extensive assignment to the director of the National Security Service to take measures to smooth out or simplify the data and contradictions in the thorough case,” he said.

Davtyan also informed that former military prosecutor Gagik Jhangiryan is not a participant in this case. “If there is a need to interview Jhangiryan as a witness under this case, and I assume there will be a necessity, the investigators will definitely try to obtain information from him,” he said.
