Sweden will launch an investigation into responses and measures taken amid the COVID-19 pandemic, DW reported.

PM Stefan Lofven said a commission will be formed by the end of summer to investigate the decision to leave most schools, restaurants, and businesses open after the virus has entered the country. "We need to take an overall approach to see how it has worked at national, regional and local levels," Lofven told the Swedish daily Aftonbladet. "We will make a decision for a commission before the summer," he added.

The country has been criticized for a more flexible approach to the fight against the virus.

More than 4,000 Swedes died during the pandemic - the per capita rate is several times higher than in other countries of Northern Europe, which introduced more stringent restrictions.
