The Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia has issued the following statement:

“The Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia reports that on May 12, 2020, the European General Aviation Safety Team held a session after which, based on the observations made during the EU evaluation visit in February, decided to include all air carriers registered in Armenia in the list of the EU Air Safety List, restricting the right of registered air carriers in Armenia to carry out flights to Europe (except for evacuation of citizens, flights for humanitarian and medical purposes).

The registered airline companies in Armenia will continue to carry out flights to other states. In addition, this decision will not have any impact on other international airline companies carrying out flights from the EU to Armenia and vice versa.

According to the European Commission and the EU Air Safety Committee, the reason for the decision on including registered aircraft operators of Armenia in the EU aviation safety list is the improper oversight and incomplete certification carried out by the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia for many years.

Since the session of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency held on November 20, 2019, the Civil Aviation Committee has been taking serious steps and continues to take necessary measures to raise the level of air safety in Armenia.”
