Commandant for the state of emergency in Armenia Tigran Avinyan today decided to ban laboratory research through the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method in the country.

According to the press release of the Government of Armenia, PCR tests for coronavirus will be banned in laboratories lacking sufficient technical equipment, a sufficient number and quality of specialists and a proper system for biosecurity; the criteria and requirements for technical equippedness, number and qualification of specialists and biosecurity are prescribed by the order of the health minister; to conduct laboratory research through the PCR method, laboratories and medical institutions shall apply to the Ministry of Health, submitting a statement of information-rational and required documents regarding the criteria and requirements prescribed by the order of the Minister of Health.
