YEREVAN. – The situation has been the same for two months. The banks have had these queues, and no one has dealt with them, the pensions have been distributed in the same way, there has been no intervention again. Edmon Marukyan, leader of the opposition Bright Armenia Party and its parliamentary faction, mentioned this in a talk with journalists in the National Assembly Wednesday.

"Now it is not right for the Prime Minister to post those photos as if they were new. During that time, the relevant authorities did not fulfill their responsibilities. Better late than never. At least starting from today, that distance will be maintained, the rules will be observed," Marukyan said.

As for the possible tightening of the current restrictions in Armenia due to the COVID-19 situation, he noted that there may be stricter restrictions if people are given the means to live. "There can be no total quarantine, but people should not be given money to live on. Therefore, the government is facing a difficult situation; it must have the means for that. If need be, it must be done, but within reason. (…). I believe the key to finding the golden mean is in properly applying the existing restrictions,” he said.
