The US statements on imposing sanctions against Hong Kong - amid the approval of the law by China on national security - are only intimidation, Hong Kong administration head Carrie Lam told during the briefing.

According to her, the so-called "sanctions" are completely unfounded. Hong Kong’s special status is determined by the principle of "one country, two systems" and the Basic Law, and the so-called “sanctions” of foreign states will not affect Hong Kong.

She added that the government of the special autonomous region fully supports the relevant legislative work, and national security is a top priority.
