The National Security Service of Armenia in 2019 revealed a large number of cybercrimes, said NSS director Eduard Martirosyan.

His remarks came on Friday during the debates on the 2019 state budget performance.

Martirosyan found it difficult to name the exact number of cybercrimes. According to him, there are only several thousands of them, but a significant part of these crimes was committed by Azerbaijani hackers.

Despite some difficulties in identifying specific authors of these cyberattacks, the fight against such threats is successful, the director added.

Martirosyan also noted that the NSS is constantly working to improve the quality and effectiveness of special equipment, purchasing both in Russia and the US and in a number of European countries.

“In 2019, special devices worth AMD 109 million were purchased,” he noted.
