YEREVAN. – Gazprom Armenia offers $283 as average price of natural gas in Armenia; this is the average of the price for five consumer groups. Today's figure is $255, and our staff has offered $266.7. Garegin Baghramyan, Chairman Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), on Monday stated this in a talk with journalists in the National Assembly.

"At the same time, this $266.7 is proposed to be distributed in such a way that there is no change in prices for the population and the socially vulnerable groups. Prices are rising for greenhouses and processing companies, and for those who consume more than 10,000 cubic meters [of natural gas] per month,” he added.

To the claims that raising natural gas tariffs for Armenia’s greenhouses could lead to higher prices for agricultural products the PSRC chief agreed, but added: "It's another question as to what extent this increase will be manageable for those sectors of the economy."

To note, Gazprom Armenia company has submitted to the PSRC a petition to increase natural gas prices in Armenia by 11 percent. In response, the PSRC has made proposals, according to which the natural gas tariff shall increase by 4.5 percent, but not for the residential subscribers as well as the socially vulnerable groups, and will rise, especially for greenhouses and recycling companies.
