By Monday's decision of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Lieutenant General Onik Gasparyan has been appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, replacing Artak Davtyan in that position.

To note, back in 2018, the media reported that Gasparyan would be appointed to this office.

It was also noted that Onik Gasparyan is Nikol Pashinyan's fellow townsman, and therefore this might hinder his appointment as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, so as not to give rise to speculations.

Onik Gasparyan was born on January 6, 1970, in Ijevan town.
