YEREVAN. – A need has come about to review the package of strategic measures for various sectors of the economy, as the whole world is changing due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Minister of Economy, Tigran Khachatryan, stated this during Monday’s debates on the 2019 state budget performance report, at the joint sitting of the standing committees of the National Assembly, answering the MPs' questions on what steps were being taken to encourage Armenia’s exports.

In particular, the minister recalled that for a year they have worked on the development of five documents, three of which are related to the industry development strategy, small and medium-sized business strategy, and tourism development strategy, and there are export components here. "Three of them have been given different solutions, as different tasks are considered in each document," Khachatryan added, in particular.

According to him, the Armenian government has a large package of measures which provides for what needs to be done, but, still, some of them need to be reviewed. "The world is changing, and our approaches toward passing to new ‘roads’ must also change. The goals are the same: to have a competitive economy, competitive services, but the means must be changed, as the tasks have also changed,” Tigran Khachatryan concluded.
