The Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia has received more complaints in June of this year than it did last year. Whereas there were 13,140 complaints last year, now there are already 13,300. This is what Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan told reporters today.

When told that the complaints are mainly the complaints of courts and the police and asked if anything has changed, Tatoyan said the following: “There are changes every year. For instance, in 2018, the most complaints were from the police due to the rallies that were taking place. This year I predict that the Office will receive more complaints regarding the healthcare system, the system of education and the Commandant’s Office for the state of emergency. As for the complaints from courts, most of them concern the delay of cases and postponement of trials. To provide solutions to these issues, I have applied to the Constitutional Court to dispute the practice and legislation according to which, for instance, a case can be delayed for years, and as a result, a person is affected and doesn’t receive any compensation.”
