The UK MPs honored African American George Floyd's memory with a minute of silence, parliament's press service reported.

The statement runs as follows: "The Speakers of both Houses have confirmed that Parliament will hold a minute’s silence on Tuesday 9 June at 11am, in memory of the death of George Floyd.

Racism has no place in Parliament, and we stand together in support of our black friends and colleagues both here and around the world."

Mass protests and riots broke out in many US states after the death of African-American George Floyd. Three police officers handcuffed Floyd, threw him to the ground and apprehended him, and one of them pressed his knee on the man's neck. All four police officers involved in the detention have been fired and charged.
