Armenian News - NEWS.am presents a daily digest of Armenia-related top news as of 09.06.2020:

·       Armenia confirmed 350 COVID-19 new cases Tuesday, bringing the total number to 13,675, the health ministry reported.

The number of recovered patients has reached 4,451, while the death toll is 217.

In the meantime, 8,933 COVID-19 patients are currently undergoing treatment. In total, 71,405 tests have been completed in the country.

·       At the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan will attend the Victory military parade in Moscow on June 24, Pashinyan's spokesperson Mane Gevorgyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia announced that the military unit from the Armenian Armed Forces will also take part in this parade.

·       The World Bank Global Economic Prospects July report forecasts a 2.8% decline in Armenia’s GDP in 2020.

The June report states that Armenia will see an economic boost in 2021 as the World Bank’s analysts expect a 4.9% growth of the GDP in Armenia.

·       A huge and tragic road accident took place Tuesday in Armenia's Tavush Province, shamshyan.com reported.

A truck with Russian license plates went off the road in Kirants village, crashed into concrete barriers, and overturned on a garage.

The truck driver—Russian citizen Artur Poghosyan, 50—died on the spot.

A criminal case has been initiated on the incident.

·       Tuesday's court session in the case of Armenia’s ex-President Robert Kocharyan and several other ex-officials will be rescheduled; Kocharyan's legal defense team has made a statement about this.

"According to the information received from the court, the court session scheduled for June 9 in the case of the alleged overthrow of the constitutional order will be postponed due to the new type of the coronavirus pandemic," the statement reads.

·       Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to distribute radiofrequencies on the border, Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan said Monday. 

“To this day, the talks with Baku have been fruitless since the parties have failed to agree which frequencies each country has to use, but the past three meetings were fruitful. We reached an agreement on 134 frequencies, and Armenia is currently using them freely,” the minister said.
