During an online press conference today, Russia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin said the Embassy of Russia has succeeded in organizing the return of 981 citizens of Armenia to Russia since the lockdown declared due to the coronavirus.

According to him, all resources are being used to ensure return of the citizens of Russia. At the same time, the Ambassador urged to closely follow the news posted on the Embassy’s website and in other sources. “The return of citizens is ensured through the organizing of flights and through overland transport via the territory of Georgia. It’s not easy to solve the problem with the return of citizens who are on the border with their cars, but the Embassy has managed to solve the issue of return of four groups through the Georgian border. This issue also requires the Georgian side’s consent since Georgia is the one that adopts decisions on permitting border-crossings. The issue is also linked to the epidemic situation in the particular region of Russia,” Kopirkin clarified and thanked Georgia for constructive cooperation.
