YEREVAN. – The situation in the information sphere is often discussed in Armenia, and in this context, the activities of the SNCO responsible for public information are often discussed. Eduard Aghajanyan Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, stated this during Friday’s debates on the 2019 state budget performance report, at the joint sitting of the standing committees of the National Assembly, answering the MPs' questions about what this SNCO is doing in the fight against misinformation.

According to him, the problem is that often the expectations from that structure are quite inadequate due to the previous working style. "We continue to believe that this SNCO should remain within its de jure specified functions," Aghajanyan added, in particular.

As for the fight against misinformation in general, Aghajanyan said that he had a long discussion with the minister of justice on this topic. "We agreed that the Ministry of Justice will introduce a legislative initiative in the near future that will regulate the media sector," said the chief of staff to the PM.
