Turkish authorities are blocking NATO's implementation of a new defense plan for Eastern Europe - in particular for the Baltic states and Poland, DPA reported referring to sources.

Ankara requires wider support of its interests in the region in exchange for approval of the plan.

Turkey, for example, wants the rest of the alliance to include the Kurdish Democratic Union Party and the Kurdish National Self-Defense Forces in the list of terrorist organizations. Some NATO partners refuse to do so.

The alliance plan describes in detail what support can be provided to members in the event of an attack or aggravation of the security situation.

According to DPA, there were no obstacles to the implementation of plans at the NATO summit in London last December, TASS reported.
