YEREVAN. – The Investigation Department of the National Security Service (NSS) has received information that during the 2017 Yerevan Council of Elders elections, a group of officials goaded about 100-120 thousand people that are registered outside the capital city, and are eligible to vote, to move from their places of registration for a short time and as a formality, and to unlawfully be registered in Yerevan to secure the required number of "yes" votes in the aforesaid elections. And immediately after the elections, these persons were re-transferred and registered in the actual places of their registration, the NSS press center reported.
In addition to the abovementioned, facts were obtained that the members of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) had provided bribes to the voters in order to get the desired results for them in various elections or referendums.
A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident.
And along the lines of the investigation of this criminal case, facts were obtained that PAP MP Naira Zohrabyan, during the conversations with her supporters in connection with the results of the elections that took place after the revolution in May 2018, had repeatedly insulted the thousands of citizens who had freely expressed their will.
It also turned out that Zohrabyan, during her conversations with the same supporters, had repeatedly acknowledged the fact that the PAP had managed to secure the required number of votes in previous elections only by way of vote buying.
