The NATO defense ministers will approve a package of political and military measures in response to Russia's buildup of its missile arsenal, DW reported referring to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
According to him, Russia has continued to modernize its missile arsenal, including hypersonic weapons.
We are also adapting our exercises and intelligence to new challenges, he added.
Alliance defense ministers will discuss nuclear deterrence as well. Stoltenberg promised that they will continue to ensure that NATO's nuclear deterrence facilities remain safe, reliable, and effective. He confirmed that NATO would not deploy new land-based missiles with nuclear warheads in Europe, as it did not intend to imitate the destabilizing behavior of Russia.
