YEREVAN. – Judge Robert Papoyan of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan will consider the motion to arrest parliamentary opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader, MP, and business tycoon Gagik Tsarukyan. This information was confirmed to Armenian News-NEWS.am by Tsarukyan's lawyer Emin Khachatryan.

To note, Gagik Tsarukyan has been included as an accused in a criminal case on electoral fraud. This criminal case is in connection with the PAP’s alleged buying votes for the 2017 parliamentary election.

The National Assembly on Tuesday approved Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan’s petitions to strip Tsarukyan of his parliamentary immunity and to take him into custody.

Opposition PAP and Bright Armenia Party factions in parliament, however, did not take part in the respective voting.

A total 87 MPs of the My Step faction voted for the two petitions.
