YEREVAN. – As of Tuesday, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was confirmed among 33 employees of the penitentiary system of Armenia. This information was confirmed to Armenian-NEWS.am by Nona Navikyan, head of the public relations department of the Penitentiary Service.

Navikyan said that 19 out of these 33 employees have already recovered and returned to their official duties.

She added that among the people detained in the country’s penitentiaries, there was only one convict—at Kosh Prison—with this disease, who is currently at Convicts' Hospital.

The coronavirus was registered in eight out of twelve penitentiaries in Armenia.
