YEREVAN. – We have just recently received a letter from the PAP regarding the formation of an inquiry committee. Edmon Marukyan, leader of the opposition Bright Armenia Party (BAP) and head of its parliamentary faction, stated this in a talk with journalists in the National Assembly (NA) Wednesday, referring to the fact that the NA faction of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) has taken the initiative to set up a parliamentary inquiry committee to investigate the circumstances of the activities toward coronavirus prevention and elimination of its consequences in Armenia.

"The idea of creating [such] an inquiry committee was put into circulation by us a month ago. (...). The BAP's [respective] decision is as follows: we will support the establishment of inquiry committee, provided that the committee be headed by a BAP representative,” Marukyan added, in particular.

He explained the aforesaid as follows. "First of all, the idea was ours. Secondly, there are three inquiry committees in the Republic of Armenia National Assembly, one of which is headed by the [majority] My Step bloc, whereas the other two inquiry committees are headed by the PAP representatives. Therefore, it would be right for Bright Armenia to head the next inquiry committee."
