There are serious problems with fake news in Armenia. This is what deputy of the ruling My Step Alliance Babken Tunyan said during a discussion on the report on the activities of the National Commission on Television and Radio for the year 2019 in parliament today.

According to him, the situation has escalated recently and become one of the main challenges facing the country.

Tunyan stated that many citizens see several hundreds of sources of news and believe information is free, but are mistaken since they pay by focusing on the news. Moreover, such presses receive financial resources from other sources, including through advertisement and fees from political parties.

According to the deputy, the fight against fakes can be led by attentive users, as well as competent experts, who will provide high-quality information with weighty statements, and this will eventually help raise the level of media literacy of the population.
