The US has imposed new sanctions on Syria, they include Bashar al-Assad and his wife.
In a statement noting the designations imposed under the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act - signed by President Donald Trump in December - Secretary of State Mike Pompeo noted that 'many more' sanctions against Assad government are expected in the coming weeks and months, Reuters reported.
