The fact that the content underlying our government’s policy on the Karabakh issue and the whole region after 2018 is based on peace is unequivocal. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan declared during a question-and-answer session with government officials in parliament today.

“I think the international community can see this, yet the longstanding policy of Azerbaijan is based on the logic of belligerent statements. I believe the main goal of those statements is to have the peoples of Artsakh and Armenia perceive the whole process of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the prism of fears. However, since the Armenian people don’t have the habit and culture of perceiving the issue of Artsakh in the prism of fears, this is ruled out,” Pashinyan said, adding that the Azerbaijani government has a problem with explaining to the people why there hasn’t been any outcome after 15 years of making belligerent statements.

“I still call on the President of Azerbaijan to show a constructive approach and publicly agree with my formula that any settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict needs to be acceptable for the peoples of Armenia, Artsakh and Azerbaijan,” he emphasized and touched upon the possibility of directly addressing the people of Azerbaijan.

“If I see that the dialogue with the ruling elite of Azerbaijan is failing, it will be possible to talk to the people of Azerbaijan clearly and sincerely. We need to know that this possibility is always on our agenda,” he said.
