YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: Zhoghovurd daily has received reports that the authorities intend to dismiss the RA Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, who shall be replaced by his deputy, Makar Ghambaryan.

According to the same source, Makar Ghambaryan is close to NA [National Assembly] chairman Ararat Mirzoyan, and everything is being done to appoint Ghambaryan to the post of RA Minister of Defense.

Yesterday Zhoghovurd daily tried to clarify the information from RA Deputy Minister of Defense Makar Ghambaryan, who stated. "To be honest, I don't know anyone who can replace Mr. Tonoyan in the post of Minister of Defense. I consider that information nonsense."

As for our remark on what relations Ghambaryan has with NA chairman Ararat Mirzoyan, as, according to information being circulated, it is Mirzoyan who is mediating in the matter of appointing him to the post of Minister of Defense, the Deputy Minister noted: "They are non-serious conversations."
