It is safe to say that the change of the pre-trial measure for second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and his release on bail is some progress, but what I don’t understand is why the court released him on bail and why in the particular amount. This is what former head of Arabkir Administrative District Hovhannes Shahinyan told reporters today, talking about the decision of the Criminal Court of Appeal on releasing Robert Kocharyan on bail for AMD 2,000,000,000.

“In any case, this is the situation, but I thank the judge for his decision. I’m sure there was pressure on him to not render that decision,” he said.

According to him, citizens of Armenia should gather funds to pay the money for Robert Kocharyan’s release, not the latter’s family. He addressed all businessmen and Diaspora Armenians to donate funds and help the second President of Armenia.

Asked if it is likely for Robert Kocharyan to be arrested again, Shahinyan said if the process continues, the actions will be unpredictable. He added that the first change needs to be the change of the Prime Minister and his replacement with a person who is professional, patriotic and devoted to his job and knows how to get the country out of the current situation.
