The political council of Homeland Party has issued a statement stating the following:

“Homeland Party welcomes the decision of the Prosperous Armenia faction of the National Assembly to apply to the Constitutional Court.

We record that today the political authorities, under the leadership of Nikol Pashinyan, committed the most dangerous act in the history of the Republic of Armenia, implementing a constitutional coup and laying the foundations for complete destruction of a legal state.

We expect our other partner in parliament, the Bright Armenia faction to join the initiative of the Prosperous Armenia faction. Simultaneously, we draw the attention of our partners of the Bright Armenia faction to the fact that it is possible to apply to the Constitutional Court to verify compliance of the constitutional amendments with the Constitution by being guided by point 2 of part 1 of Article 169 of the Constitution, accepting as a basis points 1 or 4 of Article 168 of the Constitution which ensure full and exhaustive opportunities for that. We express hope that the Bright Armenia faction will join the initiative of the Prosperous Armenia faction to apply to the Constitutional Court, ensuring maintenance of the constitutional order in the Republic of Armenia, protecting the lawful interests of the public and the key values of democracy.”
