Armenia’s state debt was $7,324,000,000 in 2019, $6,835,000,000 of which is the debt of the government, and the remainder is the debt of the Central Bank of Armenia. This is what Minister of Finance of Armenia Atom Janjughazyan said during a discussion on the report on performance of the 2019 state budget held as part of the special session of the National Assembly today.

Moreover, the government’s external debt comprises $5,298,000,000. If the issue is considered in terms of the total debt, the state debt was 53.6% with regard to the GDP, and the government’s debt was 50.6%.

With such indicators, Armenia is among the countries with the lowest level of state debt, and due to this, it is considered that Armenia’s state debt is completely controllable.

This serves as a ground for the government to say that there are still unused resources and potential that can be used to meet the country’s needs in terms of the fight against the coronavirus.
