Armenia's first Ombudswoman Larisa Alaverdyan told Armenian News - NEWS.am that twenty-six signatures to be submitted to the Constitutional Court are enough and she doesn't want to argue with people who confuse algebra with arithmetic.

The Prosperous Armenia faction submitted an application to the Constitutional Court against constitutional amendments bill passed earlier at the parliament.

According to the law, one-fifth of the MPs' signatures is required to submit an application. The total number of MPs is 132, respectively, one fifth is 26.4% (thus 26 MPs' signatures are needed). However, for a long time now, 27 signatures have been stated as one-fifth of the number of MPs.

Health minister Arsen Torosyan expressed his opinion in this regard, calling on Prosperous Armenia party representatives to refresh their knowledge of algebra.

"I urge the Constitutional Court to follow common sense and not politicize arithmetic," Larisa Alaverdyan, in turn, noted.
