US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to share his opinion over the New York Times's article over Russia's ties to the Taliban.

"The Fake News @nytimes must reveal its “anonymous” source. Bet they can’t do it, this “person” probably does not even exist!" Trump tweeted.

In another tweet, Trump noted that no one had informed him of 'the so-called' Russian attacks on US troops in Washington: neither Vice President Mike Pence nor the head of staff Mark Meadows.

"Nobody briefed or told me, @VP Pence, or Chief of Staff @MarkMeadows about the so-called attacks on our troops in Afghanistan by Russians, as reported through an “anonymous source” by the Fake News @nytimes. Everybody is denying it & there have not been many attacks on us....." Trump said.

The White House denied that US President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence had been briefed on an intelligence finding that a Russian military intelligence unit offered a reward to Taliban-linked militants to kill US troops and other coalition forces in Afghanistan, The USA Today reported.

“The United States receives thousands of intelligence reports a day, and they are subject to strict scrutiny,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement.

Although the White House usually does not comment on intelligence or internal discussions, “the CIA Director, National Security Advisor, and the Chief of Staff can all confirm that neither the President nor the Vice President were briefed on the alleged Russian bounty intelligence,” McEnany added.

The New York Times first reported the intelligence finding on Friday. According to it, Trump had been briefed in this regard and that the White House’s National Security Council discussed the issue in late March.
