YEREVAN. – The court session on the criminal case against second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and several other former senior officials has resumed Tuesday at the Shengavit district court of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction.

To note, after a long break, the court session did not take place on June 23, as Mihran Poghosyan, the lawyer Yuri Khachaturov, former head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, had informed the court that he had had contact with a patient with coronavirus, and therefore could not participate in the session. The hearing was rescheduled due to the absence of this lawyer.

Earlier, presiding Judge Anna Danibekyan had adjourned the trial because the ex-president had undergone surgery, and former defense minister Seyran Ohanyan’s attorneys had tested positive for COVID-19.

While the trial was adjourned, the Criminal Court of Appeal had ruled to release Robert Kocharyan on bail of 2 billion drams—more than US$4 million.
