Vice-President of the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan has touched upon the video conference of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and posted the following on his Facebook page:

“The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs held a video conference today. Comparing the press statement by the Co-Chairs and the press releases issued by the sides in regard to the video conference, we can draw several major conclusions.

1. The Co-Chairs are persistently talking about substantive negotiations and the need to prepare the populations for peace, but the Armenian authorities never show what is being proposed as substantive negotiations and what the conditions for peace will be.

2. The Co-Chairs’ statement makes it clear that the direct communication link between Pashinyan and Aliyev exists and is being used. In other words, Nikol and Ilham are communicating. Question: Can this explain why Aliyev was talking so obscenely about the modern history of Armenia and the past 20 years and why Nikol Pashinyan didn’t oppose him and tried to shift the topic to Serzh Sargsyan again?

3. Based on the statements by the Co-Chairs, one also gets the impression that the Armenian side has failed to completely and properly substantiate the issue of the third road connecting Armenia with Artsakh. I got the impression that Azerbaijan’s belligerent and destructive statements and the construction of that road are equaled, and this is impermissible. Definitely ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and let the ministry comment on this issue as well.

Let’s be alert. The efforts to ‘squeeze’ the issue of the Constitutional Court amid the pandemic go to show that we can expect anything from them.”
