A demonstration is taking place in Yeghegnut village of Armenia’s Armavir Province. The local residents are protesting against the former mayor returning to office.

"It's clear how our budget has been squandered for 30 years. (…). Now the situation in the village is tense because by the blurred decision of the Court of Appeal, the former head of the community is returning [to office], but the majority of the population does not want that; it is proved by about 600 signatures," said Hovhannes Hakobyan, a member of the Yeghegnut Council of the Elders.

According to the decision of the Court of Appeal, former mayor Razmik Margaryan should be reinstated as the head of Yeghegnut, and the current acting mayor, Razmik Mkrtchyan, should be dismissed.
